Good news for Gospel Hammond B3hrorganists: After nearly 40 years out of production, the Hammond B-3 and C-3 are back!  For years, Hammond USA worked to “replicate” the vintage B-3.  With original B-3 tooling long gone, the project was daunting but the end result is an instrument true to its heritage. Any B-3 player can sit down at the New B-3 and “take off.”

The New B-3 is a state of the art replica of the original B-3’s looks, capabilities, functions and idiosyncrasies right down to the mechanical multi-switching of each key, producing the familiar  “key click.” At the heart of the New B-3 are 96 “digital tonewheels,”  replacing the 91 mechanical tonewheels of the original.  Hammond USA painstakingly sampled the individual sound of each tonewheel.  Consequently, the drawbars on the New B-3 mix the tonewheel sounds in exactly the same way as a 1965 vintage B-3 producing a sound that is indistinguishable from the original!  To learn more about the Hammond New B-3 visit this page at HammondCentral.com.portable_b3_animsml

For those players who want to take their music on the road or for those churches that like to have a Hammond Organ for off-site ministry, Hammond produces the New B-3 in a special portable cabinet.  Combined with the Leslie 3300, the Portable New B-3 is truly ready for the road.  How ready?  Just ask Tower of Power.  Their Portable New B-3 has been set up and taken down over 1,250 times and has not missed a beat!  Learn more about the Portable New B-3 here.
